IlmSeries: Salaf-us-Salih (Life & Times)
Â
Here you can find lecture series on the Salaf-us-Salih (or the pious predecessors).
Narrated ‘Abdullah:
The Prophet was asked, “Who are the best people?” He replied: The people of my generation, and then those who will follow (come after) them, and then those who will come after the later;…”[Sahih Al Bukhari]
You can also find series on other great scholars who came after them, but who were on the same manhaj (methodology/way) as they were. These were great people, May Allah
have Mercy on them. They are our beloved Ulema, our leaders. They were defenders of the deen, revivers of the Sunnah, and they gave their life for Allah
SWT and for His Deen, whether that was with their pens or with their swords. These people, May Allah
SWT grant them jannah, are our true role models. We need to learn about them, study their life and what they went through, to truly appreciate their great contributions to this deen.

The Conqueror of the World: Umar bin Al Khattab
![]()
A towering figure, they say that when he used to be in the market place amongst the people, it would seem as though he is on horseback! A staunch character, firm in upholding the law of Islam; a person who walks around at night seeking to aid his people. When he would walk on one side of the street the Shaytan would avoid him and go on the opposite side! A Caliph that spent his night and day caring and looking after his Ummah, first to set up policing in the Muslim Ummah. Yet a Caliph that would weep until his beard would be soaked. An inspirational talk on the life and character of Umar ibn Al-Khattab.

Abdullah Ibn Zubayr The Seventh Caliph
![]()
Abdullah ibn Zubayr, the Grandson of Abu Bakr, nephew of Aisha, son of Zubayr ibn Al-Awwam, one of the ten guaranteed Jannah and Asma (known as the one with the two waist belts). Sahaaba (may Allah
be pleased with them) would say three things; no one disputed regarding Abdullah ibn Zubayr “His bravery, eloquence and worship”. He was the first child to be born in Medina; upon nobody’s birth were the Sahaaba as happy as upon the birth of Abdullah ibn Zubayr. The Seventh Caliph, his final discussion with his mother is one of the most touching that history has ever captured. It exemplifies the bravery of mother and child.
