I Turn to You

23 03 2008

I turn to you Ya Allah (SWT); I stand before you with an open heart
A heart which longs for you to reciprocate the love that it embraces
Oh Allah (SWT) I am ready to follow your way and make a clean start
For it is your path now that my heart entirely encompasses
I now take pleasure in surrendering myself to you Ar Raheem
With my forehead on the ground only for you Al Kareem
Without you Ya Allah (SWT) I am not anything
My life has no purpose, no meaning
Without you Ya Allah (SWT) what do I have?
Nothing, except an empty, vacant feeling in my heart
Walking blindly with no clear path,
Everything seems pointless and futile
But with you in my life, Ya Allah (SWT), my struggles seem worthwhile
With you in my life my heart is bursting with emotions
No longer do I feel dissatisfaction and frustration
But instead a deep passion, such a wonderful sensation
An uplifting feeling, a feeling of ecstasy
I thank you Allah (SWT) for your path has healed me
Your words have enveloped my very soul
And as I utter these words I feel whole
My heart feels content, fulfilled and complete
And all it longs for now is the day when we will finally meet.

Jumuah Mubarak!

14 03 2008

Asalaamu Alaaikum wa Rahmtullah!

Jumuah Mubarak dear Muslim brothers and sisters!

SubhanAllah,it’s Friday already, time is going by so fast, May Allah (SWT) increase us in goodness and not make us of those who waste their time, ameen

The (video) lecture for this friday is about Khushoo in Salah! What is Khushoo!? Listen to the talk and find out, insha’Allah (SWT) :)

Lecture Info: In this Lecture, Shaykh Yaser Birjas diagnoses a malaise affecting our Salah, the second most important aspect of our religion after the Shahadah.  He explains why we do not benefit from our Salah, why our minds are distracted, and why our prayers are sometimes mere chores of the limbs.  This lecture opens our minds to the causes for the above problems and goes on to propose a practical methodology by which we can strengthen our connection with the Creator.  InshAllah, by the end of this lecture, we will be able to recognize the problems affecting our Salah, realize the importance of Khushoo, as well as learn techniques of gaining Khushoo in Salah.

Speaker:  Sheikh Yasir Birjas (of Al Maghrib Institute)

Here are some reminders for Jumuah:

Reminders for Friday:
1) Read Surat Al-Kahf (The Cave), chapter 18
2) Pray on the Prophet (pbuh) many times
3) Attend the sermon quietly — no speaking.
4) Make du’aa for your Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world.

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

Allah (SWT) (SWT)’s Apostle (pbuh) said, “The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male (Muslim) who has attained the age of puberty.”Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah (SWT) (SWT)’s Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, “When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act.”

Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported that while Allah (SWT) (SWT)’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) was delivering the sermon on Friday a person came there, and the Apostle of Allah (SWT) (SWT) (may peace be upon him) said to him: So and so, have you prayed (two rak’ahs)? He said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Then stand and pray.

The above hadith are all narrated from Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim-

Three Tough Questions

13 03 2008

Asalaaamu Alaaaikum wa Rahmatullah

“Threee Tough Questions”

There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his 3 Questions. Finally, his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar.

Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?

Scholar: I am one of Allah (SWT) (SubHana Wa Ta`ala )’s slaves and Insha-Allah (SWT) (God willing), I will be able to answer your questions.

Young man: Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions.

Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of Allah (SWT)(SubHana Wa Ta`ala).

Young Man: I have 3 questions:

1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape.

2. What is takdir (fate)?

3. If shaitan (Devil) was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Shaitan (Devil) and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think of it this far?

Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man’s face very hard.

Young Man (feeling pain): Why do you get angry at me?

Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your three questions.

Young Man: I really don’t understand. Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain.

Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?

Young Man: Yes.

Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!

Young Man: I cannot.

Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God’s existence without being able to see His shape… Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?

Young Man: No.

Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?

Young Man: No.

Scholar: That is takdir (fate)…….. My hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?

Young Man: It is created from flesh.

Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?

Young Man: Flesh.

Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

Young Man: In pain.

Scholar: Even though Shaitan (Devil) and also the hell were created from the fire, if Allah (SWT) wants, insha-Allah (SWT) (God willing), the hell will become a very painful place for Shaitan (Devil).

::::Inner Balance::::

Sheikh Salman al-Oadah

It is good to unwind. It is good to take some time to reflect on life, to take delight in it and seek balance in the good things life has to offer. Sometimes this means we have to take a couple of steps back and look at things from a slightly different angle.

We see this in the way Allah (SWT) addresses His Messenger (peace be upon him). He says: “Had We not expanded for you your breast, and relieved you of your burdens which weighed you down?” [Sûrah al-Inshirâh: 1-3]

Allah (SWT) also says: “Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter? And found thee wandering, and gave thee guidance? And found you in need and made you free of want?” [Sûrah al-Duhâ: 6-8]

There is nothing wrong with breaking your monotonous daily routine and trying out something different in order to inspire you, revitalize your way of thinking, and return your mind to a relaxed and balanced state, one that puts you in greater emotional harmony with your surroundings and with other people.

You need to be able to read the signs your body gives you and understand its needs. You need to know the warning signs that you have reached your limit.

Allah (SWT) says: “Therefore, when you art free (from your immediate task), still labour hard, and to your Lord turn (all) thy attention. ” [Sûrah al-Sharh: 7-8]

He says: “Truly, in the remembrance of Allah (SWT) do hearts find rest! ” [Sûrah al-Ra`d: 28]

Do not wear yourself down and do not take on more than you can handle. Your body has rights over you, and so does your inner self. A human perspective is better for our bodily well-being than angelic aspirations. Such a perspective is more stable and less in need of compromise down the road.

You should keep an open mind and be ready for the unexpected. Be prepared for the demands of you might have to face. The best kind of success is where you are able to see what you achieve as being the best there is in life. This gives you an inner safeguard from the unforeseen obstacles that might get in your way.

We do not have to be running to get ahead at every moment or struggling to take in everything that life throws at u. Sometimes, a little spontaneity can provide us with invaluable insights. A certain freeness of spirit is needed for life to go easy.

If we really think about it, we will see that fretting over all possibilities to the point of confusion actually makes it more difficult for us to distinguish what is correct from what is in error.

You need to to keep the faith that life is but an interesting conundrum, and you should strengthen your resolve with the knowledge that whatever bad might befall us, something good will rise out of it as long as you are patient, are ready to keep a level head, and move forward. It is not naïve to let bad experiences run their course. In truth, most of the negativity we face stems from our thinking – quite falsely – that we can get through life without taking any hard knocks. We must accept that there will be ups and downs.

Allah (SWT) says: “No calamity befalls save by Allah (SWT)’s leave. And whosoever believeth in Allah (SWT), He guides his heart.” [Sûrah al-Taghâbun: 11]

In Sahîh Muslim, Suhayb related that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “How amazing are the believer’s affairs; all his affairs are good for him. If good befalls him, he is grateful and that is good for him, and if he is afflicted by calamity he is patient and that is also good for him.”

Allah (SWT) also tells us: “And when the true believers saw the clans, they said: This is what Allah (SWT) and His messenger promised us would happen. What Allah (SWT) and His messenger told us was true. It did but confirm them in their faith and acceptance.” [Sûrah al-Ahzâb: 22]

Praise be to Allah (SWT) at all times and in all circumstances.

The Lingering Pain of Sinning

6 03 2008

Assalamu Alaykum wa Ramatullahi Wa Barakatu!

This is a very good video, masha’Allah (SWT).

Info: Do we shed tears for our sins? Do we repent to Allah (SWT), desperate for Him to forgive us? Do we even acknowledge our sins?

Unfortunately many of us don’t, and we continue to sin without repenting, mindless that we will be questioned for every detail of every second we spent in this life. We will then be humiliated in front of all of mankind, but more importantly, in front of our Creator.
